Night Swim

Night Swim is a collaborative investigation of peculiar thoughts.

Inspired by a hypothetical futuristic, non-gendered, mystical, erotic novel and the intricate paintings of Dunedin artist Kushana Bush. It blends nostalgia and futurism in an attempt to describe what our mind does when we think about the future and the past at the same time.

The dancers are parallel and on a quest. We asked ourselves; does a partner in crime also have to be your lover? Can you touch them sensually, if they are not real? How do we compete, without one of us always coming first and the other last?

Choreography: Rosamund Philpott
Dancers and Collaborators : Georgia Beechey-Gradwell and Adam Naughton
Sound : Original score by Jimi Wilson featuring ‘Do What You Like’ by Blind Faith
AV and Lighting Design : Charley Draper

“Futuristic with semi-erotic overtones, I felt I was in a time tunnel or dream where I could extend out
and touch but with the physical connection forever out of reach.”

- Kim Buckley,
